Compass’ mission is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to realize their dreams and lead fulfilling lives as valued members of their community. For over 25 years, we’ve provided person-driven, community-based services across Maryland—including Montgomery, Prince George’s, Howard, and Charles Counties. Our supports span Community Living, Community Engagement, and general support services, offering person-centered assistance with daily living, employment, recreation, housing, nursing, and more. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves the freedom to make choices and contribute meaningfully, Compass helps people and their families pursue the lives they desire.
Purpose
We have three main areas of services, Community Living, Community Engagement, and Support Services. Compass’ Community Living program ensures people have the support they need for day-to-day life in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether in a community living group home, their own home, or a family home, we provide tailored assistance with daily living skills, recreation, and community integration to help people thrive. The Community Engagement program provides people with developmental and intellectual disabilities the opportunity to stay active, give back, and thrive through employment, recreation, and meaningful community integration. This program ensures people have access to enriching, person-driven experiences that align with their interests and goals while helping communities benefit from and support their contributions. Compass’ Support Services provides specialized, stand-alone support to meet a variety of needs for members of our community. These services, including housing, nursing, family supports, and more, go beyond the comprehensive offerings in our Community Living and Community Engagement programs, providing targeted support to help people thrive in their homes and communities. Supporting the whole family, our services are tailored to empower people with the tools, care, and resources to meet their needs and to achieve their goals.
