Virginia Office of the State Inspector General
OSIG was created to investigate waste and identify inefficiencies in executive branch state government throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. OSIG investigates complaints of fraud, waste, or abuse; administers the Fraud and Abuse Whistle Blower Reward Fund; oversees the statewide Hotline; conducts performance audits of state agencies; provides training and coordination of standards for the Commonwealth's internal audit functions; performs inspections and conducts reviews of facilities operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services; reviews operations of the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission; and investigates and inspects facilities operated by the Department of Corrections.
OSIG is dual accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC).
